ST. LUKE'S HEART CENTER REHAB UNIT: Telemetry Funded 100% by HOUSE OF HEARTS
The Telemetry Unit offers the cardiac rehab staff the opportunity to closely monitor patients, more effectively observe patient progress and chart the course for their recovery. Telemetry is a way to send data electronically from one point to another. Machines record electronic data related to each patient. The machines then send this data to a central area where it can be displayed on TV screens for staff to read. This allows every patient in the rehab area to be watched closely, from one place, for signs of trouble.
“The new telemetry unit has allowed us to spend less time charting and more time with our patients. It has also expanded our system to allow us to work closer to the patients and provide better care. Thank you!”
ST. LUKE'S CANCER
CENTER: In-Center Pharmacy
The Infusion Therapy Center Pharmacy offers pharmaceutical infusion services and a dedicated pharmacist to be a resource for outpatient infusion therapy patients and families. Previously, infusion medications were prepared in the hospital pharmacy, which delayed time the patients received their infusions. Having the pharmacy right there in the Infusion Therapy Center reduces the wait time thus offering the greatest effectiveness. By placing the pharmacy and ancillary staff in the clinic, the patient, staff and physicians will have direct contact with a hospital trained registered pharmacist to aid in the preparation of drug treatments, counsel patients on their medications to explain any expected side effects and to act as an educational drug resource for the Infusion Therapy Center staff.
“The Infusion Therapy Center Pharmacy has recently gone through our second anniversary! We are doing just great. Since we opened we have added approximately 150 recurring patients from St. Luke’s Rheumatology and have extended service to patients from pain control, infectious disease, and nephrology. We are continually assessing our capabilities and looking for ways to improve our service to the patients and providers of our community. Thanks again to the House of Hearts for your support!” | ||||||
